Here is a slide show of the whole Drawing Out Obstetric Fistula exhibit now up in the NYU Kimmel Galleries in Washington Square, New York. The exhibition showcases a combination of two major bodies of work. The first is from my visit to the Fistula Clinic at CCBRT hospital in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania in 2014. This work was shown last year at The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London last year. The second body of work was created after my visit in 2015 to the Mabinti Centre, also in Dar Es Salaam. At Mabinti the sense of hope and a future that comes with the rebuilding of lives after fistula surgery is tangible, and I hope that you will see the expression of this in the differences between the images!
My profound thanks to the Kupona Foundation , to Johnson and Johnson to The Fistula Foundation and to the Kimmel Galleries for all their generosity and support relating to the Drawing Out Obstetric Fistula project.
The pieces are for sale of course! Please contact me for further details. All proceeds will be shared between Kupona Foundation who have put in enormous efforts to organise this exhibition so that they can continue to fund the work of the Fistula Clinic and the Centre for Maternal Health at CCBRT Tanzania, and the Drawing Out Obstetric Fistula project.
